Netflix and Amazon may have to make more content in Europe

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union on Wednesday unveiled a raft of proposals to make it easier to buy online across its borders, set quotas for European films with providers like Netflix and protect children from harmful content.

EU consumer affairs commissioner Vera Jourova said the package “is an important step to bring consumer protection up to speed with the online world and to give legal certainty to traders.”

The measures would ensure that Netflix and other on-demand video providers like iTunes and Amazon offer at least a 20 percent share of European-made content on their catalogs.

But the quota plan is not popular in the industry and was immediately criticized by some. …

Dad uses Tesla’s Summon mode to put the fear of robotics into his son

The Tesla’s Summon feature is now a well known feature of the electric car — but not everyone is up to date on the car’s autonomous mode, which makes playing pranks that much easier

In this case, the prank is played by a father on his son, who innocently sits in the Tesla when it suddenly stirs to life and begins moving. The kid is understandably panicky and even tries asking the car to stop. (Hey, would you have grabbed the wheel at such a young age in that situation? Yeah, right.)

The freak out only lasts a few seconds as the dad, who caught everything via a hidden …

The reference headset has been distributed to developers and manufacturers, and we can expect to see the earliest versions hitting the market this fall. Unlike Google Cardboard, which features only a headset with little means of tactile interaction beyond a single button mounted to the headset itself, the Daydream reference unit come with specs for a multi-button handheld control. This accompanying device has sensors dedicated to determining its position in physical space, allowing you to interact seamlessly with digital objects in virtual reality. It also features a large touchpad to allow for more nuanced manipulation.

Moto G4 is coming to India on May 17, exclusively on Amazon

Motorola confirmed that its next smartphone would be available in India from May 17, exclusively on Amazon.

Motorola did not reveal the name of this new device, but there’s hardly any mystery here: we’ll see the Moto G4 and its souped-up version Moto G Plus, which both have leaked extensively over the past weeks.

The Moto G4 and G Plus will sell through Amazon, ending Motorola’s exclusive deal with Flipkart.

Motorola and Amazon announced their collaboration through some friendly banter over Twitter.

@Moto_IND We’ve heard the same! ❤ pic.twitter.com/wrkU3gqEWs

— Amazon.in (@amazonIN) May 11, 2016

The official statement is a bit drier (and suffers from a lack of Anchorman GIFs):

“Amazon.in is the one of the best online marketplaces in India and we are glad to announce that we have exclusively partnered with Amazon India for our next Motorola smartphone,” said Motorola India country head Amit Boni.

From the sound of it, the Moto G4 will be made available on Amazon India right after the May 17 launch.

What should you expect from the Moto G4? Quite a lot of changes, actually: there’s a new design, a fingerprint sensor up-front, a big 5.5-inch screen that finally goes Full HD, and a metallic frame rounding everything together.

The biggest uncertainty at this point is the price – is Motorola going to stick to the roots of the franchise and deliver another affordable juggernaut? Will the Lenovo-era Moto G break with the past and join a new price range? We’ll find out in just five days!

Bug in iOS 9.3 lets you make folder icons circular – here’s how to take advantage of it

Strange as it may seem, though, happy accidents do happen as well! For all the system errors that could crash your iPhone or iPad when you needed it the most, there’s one glitch that does something completely zany and unexpected – like make all the app folders you created appear as circles, instead of rounded rectangles!

ZTE CEO teases upcoming Axon 2 flagship

A teaser image of ZTE’s upcoming Axon 2 flagship was shared by the Chinese company’s CEO Zeng Xuezhong on Weibo. While the device’s TENAA listing already revealed the front and the back of the device, the new teaser image focuses on the phone’s bottom, and compares it with the bottom of the iPhone 6s and the Huawei P9.

One can’t help but notice the minimalistic design (sans any screws and speaker) that differentiates the Axon 2 from the other two flagship smartphones. However, it’s worth mentioning that this design is not new to ZTE phones, as – for example – the Axon and Axon Elite…
