Here’s what’s going on with Verizon customers who live outside its coverage area

Last week, Verizon sent notifications to about 8,500 customers which comprised of about 19,000 cellular lines in 13 states, that they would be disconnected as of October 17. The reason for this is that these subscribers were using too much data while roaming off of Verizon’s network grid. Roaming data is expensive for carriers and Verizon doesn’t seem to want these stragglers to burn a hole in its operating costs.

This would give those who received the notifications just about a month’s time to find a new carrier or be disconnected. Not only is this inconvenient to the customers, but it…

GO Keyboard apps could be spying on over 200 million Android users

According to a new report, a pair of third party keyboard apps that are listed in the Google Play Store under GO Keyboard could actually be spying on you. The developer, listed as the GOMO Dev Team, says that “We will never collect your personal info including credit card information. In fact, we cares for privacy of what you type and who you type!” That hardly seems to be the case as the apps allegedly have access to data showing your identity, phone call records, and can listen in to the microphones on your handset.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium camera scores 83 on DxOMark

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have dominated the camera game according to DxO’s latest camera testing procedures with scored of 94 and 92, respectively.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium was also reviewed by the camera reviewers and scored 83 points. Considering that smartphones have been competing for DxO’s top spot including the Google Pixel and HTC U11, Sony doesn’t seem to be trying on the camera front. Either that, or DxO’s testing protocols aren’t in Sony’s favor, we’ll let you be the judge.

DxO says that Sony does a well enough job with still photography and video, but doesn’t break any…

Comic creator calls Trumpcare ‘kryptonite’ for the industry

Many people will be negatively affected if the Affordable Care Act is repealed. That much has been obvious for a while now.

What you may not have thought of, though, is that an entire industry could suffer.

SEE ALSO: Chelsea Clinton had the best response when Trump blocked a cancer patient on Twitter

Most comic creators, if not all of them, are independent contractors, which means that they rely on ACA for their health care. Writer Van Jensen, who has written James Bond and The Flash comics, reached out to Twitter to spread that message, calling Trumpcare “kryptonite.”

Facebook and Microsoft’s big undersea cable is finally finished

More than 17,000 feet below the ocean’s surface, there now lies the “most technologically advanced subsea cable,” providing up to 160 terabits (Tbps) of data per second — beating Google’s alternative, now poorly named, “Faster.” The cable is the handiwork of Facebook, Microsoft, and Spanish telecommunication company Telxius.

Construction on the cable, which stretches 4,000 miles from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Bilbao, Spain, began in August 2016. Microsoft announced its completion on Thursday, but it won’t be operational until early 2018.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ announces companion show for fans who can’t get enough

Star Trek has sustained a seemingly endless amount of discussion for nearly half a century now. And the newly announced spin-off After Dark will continue that tradition for the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series.

Following in the footsteps of Nerdist host Chris Hardwick — who practically invented the aftershow with The Talking Dead, Talking Bad, and Talking Saul — After Trek will be hosted by fellow Nerdist Matt Mira.

(We’re assuming Chris Hardwick could not host because he was previously engaged in the aftershow for his aftershow’s aftershow.)

Jokes aside, Mirra is well-suited for the job, as not only Hardwick’s mentee but also as the host of his own discussion-oriented, pop culture deep-dives with podcasts like Star Trek: The Next Conversation and James Bonding. …

Apple presents 8 things to love about iPhone 8

While launching the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in the US and around
the world, today, Apple also released a short promo video presenting “8
things to love” about the two devices. Unsurprisingly, most of these
things can be found among the new features that the iPhone 8 series is bringing,
including: Portrait Lighting, a durable glass back, wireless charging, the
brand new A11 Bionic chipset, enhanced Retina HD display, and augmented reality
capabilities.

Needles to say, thanks to these features, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are superior
to last year’s iPhone 7 family. And yet they’re … – Source

Tata Motors, India’s largest auto manufacturer, launches its first Android Auto-equipped vehicle

Android Auto continues to arrive in more vehicles, this time in India via Tata Motors. According to Google, the 2017 Tata Nexon is now part of the growing repertoire of Auto-compatible… autos.

Being India’s largest car manufacturer, Tata is an interesting case study from a business standpoint (I actually had to do one on this company) — and it makes some nice-looking vehicles to boot. Seeing such a large player in that part of the world with Android Auto is good news for the platform, even though it seems to have stagnated recently.

Moto E4 Plus now goes for $148.89, $31.10 cheaper than usual
